Malawi Queens have made it to the next level in the Vitality Netball World Cup after beating Uganda in a competitive match on Friday evening. Th queens will compete for a 5th position against Jamaica on Saturday.
The Queens thrashed Uganda by 55-44 baskets making it a straight win as they also defeated Zimbabwe in Thursday’s match.
Malawi started in group B where they lost in an opening match to NewZealand, they however managed to beat Singapore and Barbados to qualify to the next round and they moved to group F.
However, the Queens failed to break into a 4th position after they terribly lost to Australia who are currently the world champions.
Friday’s game was a decider as Jamaica was waiting to take on the winning team between Malawi and Uganda to fight for position 5.
Malawi is currently on position 9 on world ranking from position 6. Malawi Queens coach, Griffin Zagalo Sayenda, earlier said that the team will work hard to reclaim the position 6 which was taken away by Uganda.
