Soccer fans and commentators believe that the Flames Coach Ronny Van Geneugden needs more time to turn around the fortunes of the team. They are optimistic that the results of the team will improve soon. This is despite only two wins from eleven games that the team has played since the Belgian took over in April this year. The Belgian coach came with a promise of bringing in a new philosophy that would change the national team’s performance as well as results. But seven months down the line, the team has played eleven games both friendly and competitive ones. However, the team has only won two games and lost three with the remaining six as draws. Local Flames Players Go Into 4-Day Camp

Flames local players will go into a four-day training camp as team coach Ronny van Geneugden (RVG) plans to fine tune his troops. Nyasa Big Bullets FC will contribute more players than any other club with six followed by their arch-rivals Be-forward and Silver Strikers contributing four players each. The training camp will run from 25 September to the 28 September, 2017 at Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Mpira Village in Chiwembe, Blantyre.   The called up players include: #GOALKEEPERS 1. Flames Coach RVG To Have 11 Understudies

National Coaches Association (NCA) has selected 11 coaches to understudy Malawi National Football Team Coach, Ronny van Geneugden (RVG), on rotational basis. The list includes Patrick Kulemeka, Abel Mkandawire, Maggie Chombo-Sadiki and Aubrey Nankhuni from the Southern Region and Millias Pofera, Lovemore Fazili, Meke Mwase, Davie Mpima and Benjamin Kumwenda from the Central Region.   Kulemeka and Mkandawire were, on Tuesday, spotted at Chiwembe Ground with the national team coach as part of the first group understudying him. Flames coach Ronny Van Geneugden (RVG) has released names of players for pre-season camp ahead of friendly matches against Togo and Mauritania next month. The pre-camp will be held at the Mpira Village in Blantyre from Monday 21st August 2017.
