The Malawi national football team, the Flames Head Coach, Ronny Van Geneugden has added two more local players to the team’s off-season camp currently underway at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre. The two locals are Ben Manyozo from Dwangwa United and Gregory Nachipo from Blue Eagles. The Flames Team Manager, James Sangala confirmed the development in an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Monday. He said so far the players are responding well to the training. “It has pleased Coach RVG to invite two more players into the camp namely Ben Manyozo and Gregory Nachipo. “Meanwhile, I can say the training is going on well and the players are responding very well and l hope by the end of this week they will be where the coach wants them to be,” said Sangala. Flames local players will go into a four-day training camp as team coach Ronny van Geneugden (RVG) plans to fine tune his troops. Nyasa Big Bullets FC will contribute more players than any other club with six followed by their arch-rivals Be-forward and Silver Strikers contributing four players each. National Coaches Association (NCA) has selected 11 coaches to understudy Malawi National Football Team Coach, Ronny van Geneugden (RVG), on rotational basis. The list includes Patrick Kulemeka, Abel Mkandawire, Maggie Chombo-Sadiki and Aubrey Nankhuni from the Southern Region and Millias Pofera, Lovemore Fazili, Meke Mwase, Davie Mpima and Benjamin Kumwenda from the Central Region.   Kulemeka and Mkandawire were, on Tuesday, spotted at Chiwembe Ground with the national team coach as part of the first group understudying him. Malawi women’s football national team is out of the Council for Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Cup despite a draw with defending champions Zimbabwe. The team drew with Zimbabwe 3-all at Luveve Stadium after coming from behind. Malawi finished third in Group A with four points having lost to Zambia 6-3 in their opening match before recovering with a 6-3 victory over islanders Madagascar. The Flames are expected to arrive in the country today morning after leaving Agadir City for Casablanca where they were expected to fly out of Morocco on Wednesday evening. the Flames beat Togo 1-0 on Monday in a six nations tournament organised by Morocco. It was a second win for the team under Belgian Coach Ronny Van Geneugden. Malawi used the international break to play international friendly matches under the sponsorship of Morocco Football Association. On Friday Malawi were held to a 1-1 draw against Morocco’s Under 23 side in Agadir. Malawi Flames defender Ian Chinyama who suffered a serious injury during the team's 0-0 draw with Mauritius on Tuesday, is currently admitted at Fern Crest Hospital in Rustenburg, South Africa waiting to undergo surgery. Chinyama suffered three fractures in the face when he collided with Mauritius striker in the second half and was immediately rushed to the hospital. It was his debut for the national team, and hospital scans revealed he suffered three fractures around the right eye.
