Ellen Kadango, who used to mesmerize patrons with her music and dancing antics on stage in the late 2000, has dumped music career and joined politics. This was evidenced by her participation in the October 17, 2017 by-elections where she contested as an independent candidate for Lilongwe City South East. In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) Monday in Blantyre, Kadango said she has joined politics so that one day when she gets into parliament she would promote issues that affect the youths as adults have failed the youth big time. “I was born in a family with a back ground of politics. Five South African based Malawian Hip-Hop artists have formed a group called Until we Reach, aimed at advancing their music careers whilst representing Malawi internationally. In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) on Monday, the group’s leader, Snag Bomaye, real name, Fraser Evans Masamba, said they have managed to produce four songs including videos which are enjoying massive air-play in South Africa. “We have released four singles namely Ndineneretu, Make it Out, These Walls, which is a collaboration with a well known South African Group, IMG and Things Change. Veteran radio-play-actor Smart Likhaya Mbewe who became a household name due to his acting name Kapalepale died on Friday evening after being bedridden for long time due to effects of stroke he suffered in 2004. Mbewe died at Mulanje District Hospital and will be laid to rest at his home Muliya village, Traditional Authority Juma in the district. He is survived by nine children and 33 grandchildren. Kapalepale made a name in the 1980s and 90s when he entertained listeners on MBC Radio in Sewero La Sabata Ino episode which later wore the moniker of Kapalepale the lead actor in the 30 minute play.
