Army Jobs: Mutharika Appoints Army Chiefs

President Peter Mutharika has appointed Tri-Service Commanders and Deputy Commanders of the Malawi Defence Force.

Mutharika made the appointments in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the Malawi Defence Force and in line with Section 4 of the Defence Force Act (2018).

Mutharika has appointed Army Commander (Landed Forces) Major General Alick Bentry Mhone with his deputy Brigadier General Davis Sesatino Mtachi.

Airforce Commander is Major General Andrew Lapken Namathanga while his deputy is Brigadier General Ian MacLeod Chirwa. Maritime Force Commander is Brigadier General Francis Blessings Kakhuta Banda and deputy is Colonel Richard Tobias Chagonapanja.

According to the office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), the appointments are with immediate effect. T

The statement further states that the Commander of the Malawi Defence Force remains General Vincent Nundwe with Lieutenant General Clement Namangale as Deputy Commander.
